navidad day.

What do you get a Dad that has everything?
Paint him a picture of his favorite place in the world.

The cabin.
It was definitely a group effort.
I think it turned out pretty good.
I'm not artist,
but it got a great belly laugh out of my pops.
Then the part we'd all been waiting for:
Elder Derek Gallegos Owen's phone call!
We each took turns talking to him.
Randy spoke only Spanish to him.
He's in California on a Spanish speaking mission.
Right now he's in Antelope.
D called right during lunch
so if we weren't talking-we were listening
on the speaker phone and munching on lunch.
And Jon called {he just got home from Peru}
they mostly made noises to each other.
Jon told him to keep fighting strong until the end.
The dogs were wondering what was so special
about the phone.
We split our time with families.
We LOVE them both so much.

Randy got a mentos/soda exploder.
And we wanted to try it out.
It was super neat.
Merry Christmas.
We spent the night before
with friends and neighbors.

I enjoy celebrating life and
the Savior.
I wish I could spend a week doing nothing {with family} every week!

I don't want to go back to 0 degree weather.
Don't make me.

snowshoeing

Randy got invited by some friends to go snowshoeing.
We went about a year ago :) but haven't been since.

I had to work the day they were going
so Randy & I went Saturday.
It was a nice sunny day.
I can handle the snow/winter/tundra
when I'm able to get outside occasionally.
We even got so warm
we took off a few layers
and our beanies.

{Side note.
I said it was warm the other day
when the temp read 30,
what is Logan
doing to me?}
We ran into a bunch of people on the trail.
Some walking their dog.
Some watching birds.
Then on Monday
Randy left at 8 am
and didn't get to his truck
until 4:30 pm!
Their trail was a little steeper.
And had about a foot and a half
of powder on it.
He said they started about 4000 ft.
and climbed to about 8000.
Ryan, Jordan and Randy.
Randy said this was one of two signs they saw for the actual trail.
You can see Cache Valley
behind Ryan.
They didn't even make it to the top.
It was a false summit,
and Randy had to go to work that night
so he turned around.
Took him 2 hours to get off the mountain.
After I heard their crazy story
I was kinda glad I had to work on Monday ;)

Today I'm grateful for:
being home
family
warmer weather
stg comfort foods
friends
holiday parties
christmas cap'n crunch
the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints
and
the savior's birth.

Happy holidays!

snow. pt. 2

Figured I should show the progress
of the cabin from the outside.
Buster was ready to be done playing in the snow.
Buddy too.
My sweet parents.
Being happy we're together.
Looking back at the valley.
We made it back to the Bear River Station
and my parents let the two of us go for a ride.

The snowmobiles had hand warmers
that got SO HOT!
Randy wanted to show me how fast he could go!
Zoom zoom.

They were a blast to ride.
I'm sure you'll find us
at the cabin possibly another time
or two this winter.

Loving Snow. With Family.

My parents rented snowmobiles
and let us tag along on their mini-vacation.

Destination: Christmas Meadows
Cabin #12
Oh yeah, and we took the pups with us.
We wrapped them up like little babies.
Buster got free
and jumped off the snowmobile
without any assistance.

We almost lost him in all of the white.
We walked in to our cabins from the gate.
When we finally made it
we all tried to warm up
the best we could.

For all those who have been to our cabin,
use the rock fireplace as your reference.
I love my hairy mountain man.
Our new kitchen!
It was beautiful to ride in
and scary when we tipped over our ride.

I love spending time with my family.
I can't wait for the cabin
to be finished . . . .

so we can live there :)

Shopping at the Gateway.

Randy & I were able to
hook up with some friends
in SLC at the Gateway.
We ate in the food court.
Went shopping to a couple of stores
and made a stop in Claires.
L&B did not like the funky
Christmas music
in the stores.

But they were still adorable.
These Moms are both
great examples of love
and living life.
I kept joking that I was missing
an important accessory. . .
maybe next year ;)
