WFR

When I was in Provo a couple of weekends ago,
I was in a 2 day long class to re-certify my WFR.
We used make up to simulate realistic scenarios.
These two are from MT and are adorable.
Jess and Cami were my lifesavers during the rough spots.
Our instructor Nate was a good sport.
We practiced splinting with Thermarests and
whatever we were carrying that day.

I know that I will benefit from this knowledge
and have already started putting some of it in play.

Do you know CPR?
Can you handle an injured person?
What is the #1 thing to know when you call 911?
Location Location Location
You should practice - because you never know when you'll
be in a crazy situation.

LOGAN

When we were on our journey North to frozen Logan . . .
we ran into a little bit of a problem.
We got 2 flats with the trailer.
Don't forget that we were also pulled over by a Sheriff
as we were pulling off of the mountain into the Logan Valley.
Dad and Randy were the tough moving team!

Let's play I spy.
I spy with my little eye. . . something with a tail.
I spy something that is from the 70s and bright green.

Who knows how long the washer had been there.  Eeek.
All in all, we're really excited to be in one place for a while.
We are hopeful that we'll enjoy our cooler summer.
We've got a couple camping trips, a Jackson Hole
and a Havasupai trip
to look forward to.
And if you're ever in the Cache Valley area---come visit.
We've got plenty of room ;)

I'm living in the moment with the friends I love

Saturday was a busy day.  Not only did we go to Mt. Vernon
we headed to the LDS Washington DC temple.
Which I learned the other day is the tallest LDS Temple.
{We are the same height-that is neat}
The sky was so incredible.
And the stained glass was just as amazing inside
as it was out.
Randy didn't exactly have church clothes,
so we improvised.
And afterwards we had some of the best sushi ever!
This restaurant ONLY plays the Beatles
So if you're not a fan-I wouldn't suggest going there.
The whole time we were eating - I was singing along.
Our beautiful rolls:
These sneaky devils paid for dinner.
We were so blessed to have such
great hosts
and tour guides
and food guides.
The next day I had wanted to go to Teddy's Island.
I love this quote.
The weather was warm and breezy.
I loved walking around and enjoying the serenity.

We went and got some Georgetown Cupcakes
for Mother's Day
and for Anniversary!
The line was suuuper long, but always worth it.
We were able to go to church
and saw a longtime neighborhood friend: Keesha.
She is serving an LDS Mission
in DC and grew up around the corner from me.
It was so pleasant seeing a familiar face.
After church we were dropped off
at the airport by the Maglebees.
Such nice folks.
Do you see the Washington Monument?
We had such an amazing trip, I do highly
recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Mega Mt. Vernon

A week ago we went to see Mountain Vernon.
We loved learning about George and Martha.
How they used to make chocolate.
Their home was lovely!
The weather was perfect.
We got there relatively early
and there were 0 lines!
The river was super relaxing.
I could've just sat and chatted for hours.
We found some babies that wanted some attention.
Randy found the perfect-behind-the-ear spot.
There was a really mean guy
who kept pushing the others out of the way,
I thought he was going to push the fence over
at one point!

After we walked around for a little bit
and had already taken the tour inside we found this sight:
huge lines. . . so glad we skipped that!
Even the outside walls were green-
George's favorite color.
In the museum we watched this really awesome
interactive video.
Our chairs would shake every time a cannon would fire.
There was 'snow' that would fall from the ceiling.
It turns out they're really little bubbles---and they taste like soap.
So don't eat them.
Randy really enjoyed all of the history,
but especially the part with ammunition.
The infamous George, Martha, Jacky and Patsy picture.
It still makes me laugh!

how lucky we are. . .

was playing at Jammin Java
and we couldn't pass it up.
She's a folk/indie/pop artist
from LA.  And her
O o ooo face was the
best.
She was really interactive and really respectful
of some 10 year olds in the crowd.
My absolute favorite was the bass player.
He kept dancing and bobbing his head.
I couldn't help but think of my Grandpa Owen
doing the exact same thing.

Afterwards we just HAD to try out Dairy Godmother.
I got a sorbet and Randy got chocolate with Oreos.
Yum!
The gang after a lovely evening.
I wish Randy would've kept his sweet stache he had going on,
but sadly he shaved it all off this week :(

Food/Washington/Arlington

We had such a great time in Washington DC,
it's been hard to choose only a few of our 500 pictures.

We both enjoyed going to Chopt.
They had such good sodas and their salads were fantastic.
You choose what kind of salad you want. . .
They chop it up, dress it and give it to you
to eat.
SO GOOD!
After lunch last Friday we went to the TOP
This was a Ranger there who had a
MAJOR crush on George.
We could see almost everything!
The White House.
Like I said, we could see a lot
and it was really humbling to see everything in context.
The monument stands 555’ 5 1/8” tall, and offers views in excess of thirty miles.
It was finished on December 6, 1884.
We decided with such a hot day we needed
firecracker popsicles.
I had forgotten my camera battery at Chopt
so we headed back to pick it up and conveniently
there was a Metro station near by.
We decided as we headed home to hit up Arlington Cemetery.
We walked in and there was such a lovely spirit here.
I am so grateful for all of the men and women
who fight and have fought
to protect our country.
Randy really had a good time looking at all of the graves.
In the end we kept looking at some for inspiration for the future
and we came up with Abner Hugo Frank :)

What do you think?
